On top of that, would you go to Bloodraider space you'll get neuted to fck as well so you either need really high base recharge or you'll need a Nos, which requires a high slot. In short don't use turrets against Amarr NPC for exploration, it sucks arse clown. And ofcourse because of the lost tracking your applied dps is also effectively zero especially as the Legion with that laser sub has no drones, picture yourself trying to hit a spider drone orbiting you at 3km, with heavy pulses while you're TD'd to ****. But Amarr NPC tracking Disrupt you back to the stone age to a point where a Legion (which gets a range bonus) with heavy pulses, 2 range scripted tracking computers and Scorch ammo gets an optimal of 4km, which is hilariously ridiculous. So unless one agrees to losing 20-50% applied dps due to crappy damage types you have to stick to Amarr space. People will tell you that because of the thermal part they also work for Gallente based NPC but the truth is that with longer range crystals thermal drops to almost zero and it's almost completely EM damage (especially if you use Scorch). What is it that makes the laser sub so bad? And why specifically for K-space? Lasers do EM/thermal meaning they only really do well in Amarr space. a Drone Proteus is overall the better all in one exploration ship for K space. It's funny how people keep harping on about the Tengu because it's not actually that good no salvagers, no tractor beams, no codebreakers, limited to kinetic damage and it eats ammo like a bastard. I'm running a Legion with Drone sub for exploration, that right there tells you how bad the laser sub is for K-space (it's very useful in W space though). A strategic cruiser gives you the flexibility to have an 'all in one' exploration ship that can scan down and run most sites. So here is my question: Am i misunderstanding something about these T3 ships? Are they really good for an exploration career? Another reason that people recommend the strategic cruisers is that even though covert ops ships are excellent at scanning, they can have difficulty dealing with many of the actual sites you can find (particularly in low and null sec where you would actually want a covert ops over a T1 exploration frigate). They look really good, but I didn' t see any of the bonuses that would help during the scanning of New Eden, actually nothing similar to my T1 frig or my future Cov Op ship. Curious, I had an eye ont the spec of these ships. But few informations gathered on the net tend to claim that Strategic Cruisers, such as Tengu or Proteus, are good ships for an Explorer. I' im planning to soon upgrade from Imicus to Cov Ops. This combination of subsystems makes for an extremely difficult to lose exploration ship.Hi all, I' ve recently decided to go deeper in the career I had first chosen in EvE: Exploration. However, the real selling point of a Tech III, in my opinion, is the Interdiction Nullifier, which ensures you won’t get trapped in cheeky bubble camps. Scanning and exploration are just one of the many fittings for a Loki, and it’s made possible by the Emergent Locus analyzer subsystem. Once again, with Tech III’s being extremely modular subsystem based platforms, you can do a lot with just the one package.
